Deacon Walter Winfred Grice was born on November 27th, 1946 to the Late Eugene Grice Sr. & the Late Bishop Quillar(Barnes) Grice. Walter was affectionately known to family and friends as Winfred. Winfred spent his childhood years in Guntown, MS. and was educated in the Mississippi School system.
At the age of 12 Winfred moved to Chicago, IL. with his family. He graduated from Farragut High School class of 1965. As a young adult Winfred enjoying playing ping pong, piccolo and grilling. Winfred was known for his unique sense of humor and infamous phrase “do you have any MONEY?”
Winfred enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 1st, 1968 where he served his country proudly. Winfred was honorably discharged in November 1969. At an early age, he accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He was a faithful member of the Solid Rock C.O.G.I.C where his mother, Bishop Quillar Grice, was the Pastor.
Winfred married Nadine Lyons on April 20,1974 to this Union 2 children were born.
Winfred was employed with Harris Trust & Savings Bank from 1969 until his health failed in later did volunteer work as a greeter at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL. He will be remembered for his smile, soft spoken voice and being a jokester.
Winfred leaves to cherish his fond memories; one son Keith of Hickory Hills, IL. one daughter; Kristin Moore (Maurice) of Westchester, IL. two grandsons Jordan and Myron (MJ) one great granddaughter Nevaeh Jai’lee; one sister Dorothy Reasonova of Lynwood, IL., one brother Eugene Grice Jr. (Mary) Of Baldwyn, MS; One Uncle, George Henry Barnes of Selmer, TN. four aunts; Esther Bartley & Doris Agnew of Baldwyn, MS. Delores Williams of Aurora, IL. and Franchie Barnes of Chicago; special cousin Jessie Riley of Plano, TX. very special caretaker/friend Carolyn Turner-Johnson of Chicago, IL. a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
