Walter William Flamer was born on April 6, 1949 in Easton, Maryland. He was the son of the late Charles Edward Flamer, Sr. and Josephine Bledsoe Flamer. Walter entered eternal rest at 5:15 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Walter attended schools in Ridgley, Maryland and graduated from North Caroline High School in 1967. He attended Bowie State College where he joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and received a Bachelor’s in Education. He furthered his education by obtaining his Masters of Science from The Johns Hopkins University in 1979. Walter was an educator in Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 30 years where he taught elementary education.
Walter was active at his childhood church in Ridgley, Maryland, Trinity United Methodist Church, for many years. His devotion, faith and strength in God continued to follow him throughout his lifetime.
Walter married his college sweetheart, Margaret Chase, in 1972. From this marriage they were blessed with two children, Shirelle Etoria and Damon Scott. He was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first.
Walter will always be remembered for his laughter and comedic sense of humor. He was energetic and had many hobbies, including attending college football games, traveling with his wife, reading and volunteering at the North County Emergency Outreach Network (NCEON).
His life leaves a memory that will remain with us throughout the span of time. We will miss him, but thank our Heavenly Father for the privilege of knowing him and loving him for so many years.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jospehine Flamer, and his loving wife, Margaret Chase Flamer.
He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, two children, Shirelle Ripetta with her husband Charles Ripetta of Oakton, Virginia and Damon Flamer with his wife Jessica Faircloth-Flamer of Owings Mills, Maryland; five grandchildren, Devin Faircloth-Rice, Donovan Flamer, Julia Flamer, Jianna Flamer and Alessandra Ripetta; two brothers, Ray Bledsoe (Gaynelle) of Forestville, Maryland and Charles Flamer, Jr. (Joyce) of Denton, Maryland; two sisters, Barbara Prattis (Charles) of Denton, Maryland and Etoria Henry (Marvin) of Capitol Heights, Maryland; four aunts, Thelma Harris of Hillsboro, Maryland, Laverne Bledsoe of Cambridge, Maryland, Pauline Wyatt of Wilmington, Delaware and Dulcie Flamer of Queen Anne, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
