Son of Gordon and Lillian (Pocknett) Temple, Walter was a third generation “townie” having been born and raised in Westborough. He was a member of the Westborough High School Class of 1959. Walter was a proud member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gayhead (Aquinnah).

Walter was a hardworking man. He began his life-long career in carpentry and building under the apprenticeship of John Day at the age of 16 years old.  Over the decades, Walter worked in building and construction; he owned his own company, Temple Carpentry. Walter always felt lucky to get to do what he loved for a living.

Walter sang with the Westborough 250th Anniversary Chorus; participated in the 1976 American Bicentennial Re-enactment; and was a long-time friend of Bill’s.

Walter felt his greatest achievement was his family.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Penelope (Clark) Temple of Orange, MA, as well as his daughters: Deborah (Jon) Lukey of Westborough, MA; Carol Temple of Orange, MA; Sheila (Wayne) Spaulding of Gig Harbor, WA; Victoria (Matthew) Brogan of Eden Prairie, MN; and his step-son, Dr. Ralph F. “Chip” Hinde (Michele) of Omaha, NE. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Timothy (Rebecca) Chandler, Sydney Chandler, Tess Lukey, Christopher Hinde, Brin Hinde, Katherine Brogan and William Brogan.  He was excited that he recently became a great-grandfather to Karma-Lita Chandler. Walter was also a caring and supportive uncle to his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: brother, Carl E. Temple, and sister, Patricia (Hart) Bleyley.
