Walter Swift Bruce, 84 of Boca Raton, Florida peacefully entered into eternal rest on 9 Feb 2011 surrounded by his loving wife of 54 years and friends at Hospice of St Andrews.

Walt was born in Boston, Ga. and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter G. Bruce and Mary Ruth (Swift) Bruce, brother John S. Bruce, Knoxville, Tn.

Walt served in the USAF as a jet fighter pilot; he served in Korea flying 100 combat missions, also in Vietnam flying reconnaissance for U.S. ground forces.

Walt was a perfectionist in every aspect of his life, this was most evident in 1958 when he won the William Tell weapons competition at Nellis AFB, NV, this was for nuclear weapons and individual high score.  Walt retired from the USAF in 1969 as a and Squadron Commander, after serving 25 years helping to defend our country.  After retiring from the military Walt worked for several companies including Xerox Corp, and Chase Bank.  Walt had many interest including Sailing, gardening, carpentry, golf, reading, and love for his family.

Survived by his wife Jill Bruce of Ipswich, England, Brothers: Charles F. Bruce, Boston, Ga., James A. Bruce, Savannah, Ga., Richard M. Bruce, Pensacola, Fl., Sisters: Martha Jeanne Bradshaw, Thomasville,Ga.,Mary Ruth Burleson, Boston, Ga., Sarah Ann Jackson, Boston,Ga., Sisters in law, Marion Bruce, Boston, Ga.,Janice Bruce, Knoxville, Tn., Felicity Barton, Cayman Island, and numerous nieces and nephews.
