Walter S. Wisniewski, 92, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on November 28, 2021. He was born on the family farm in Preston Ct., the youngest son and last surviving child of Walter and Dominica (Rutkowski) Wisniewski.
He is a Korean War army veteran. While on leave, his nephew, Tom Piechowski introduced him to Laura Wieczorek since he was looking for a nice Polish girl.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Underwater Systems Center in New London, CT as a machinist/ model maker. He proudly made and repaired sonar equipment for submarines, travelling to assist in testing, installation and repair of sonar at naval bases around the world.
Walter loved woodworking, dancing, gardening, vacations with his wife and children and caring for his home. He was a doer, a builder, a fixer, always on the go, always a project. He was frustrated in his later years with his lack of energy and inability to “do”.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Laura, his four children, daughter Deborah Maxwell and her husband David of Northfield, Vermont, son Walter of Griswold, CT., son John of Brooklyn, CT., daughter Ellen Allen and her fiancée Vinnie of Bozrah, CT., five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Walter is predeceased by his brothers: Joe, Tony, Frank, Peter, Paul and Ed and his sisters: Helen, Julia, Mary and Martha
