Walter Louis Mitchell Jr. passed away July 17, 2022. He was born September 5, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Walter Louis Mitchell Sr. and Josephine Walker Mitchell.
He graduated from A.H. Parker High, attended Alabama A&M and Weber State University, earning an Associate degree in Criminal Justice. Walter proudly served in the Air Force from 1974 to 1994 during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He has lived in Alabama, Florida, Greece, Spain (where he also played professional football for the Air Force), Korea, Japan, and finally, Utah.
He married Delcine Jimerson on March 25, 1989 in Okinawa, Japan. He was the owner of The Wine Cellar Night Club in Ogden, UT from 2004 to 2014. He also enjoyed Jazz/Blues music, bowling, playing pool, football (Avid Minnesota Vikings Fan), and the frequent telephone conversations with his niece, Ashley Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Delcine: 3 daughters, Tiffany (Whearlee) Mitchell-Clifton, Kendra (Danny) Mitchell-Clark and Clarisa (Steven) Mitchell- Woods: 1 sister, Debra (John) Mitchell-Huntington; 1 brother, Kim E. Mitchell; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; Uncles; Aunts; Nephews and Nieces (Favorably JuNare and Marcel Cope); great-nieces and nephews; and special friends (Lovingly Stephanie M. Clarke). He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to The VA Hospital Staff, Huntsman Cancer Institute Surgical Oncology Staff (Dr. Jared Huber), and McKay Dee Hospital Emergency Room Staff (Especially Dr. Spencer Ferrin).
