Walter H. “Wally” Livengood, 74, of Sawyer, Michigan died Sunday, August 27, at his home surrounded by his loving family.Wally was born February 16, 1932 in Bridgman, Michigan to Harold and Josephine (Lake) Livengood. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
On September 24, 1955, Wally married Lorraine Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sawyer. He was employed by the Berrien County Road Commission as a heavy equipment operator, then foreman of the Three Oaks Garage before his retirement in 1993 after 41 years of service. Wally was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Sawyer, Michigan and also a member of the Wee-chick American Legion Post 518, New Troy. He enjoyed collecting antique Jeeps and cars and entering them in parades.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, children, Steven (Jeannie) Livengood, Sawyer; Mike (Kim) Livengood, Sawyer; and David Livengood of Baroda, Michigan; grandchildren Lorraine, Amy, Cassie, Nick, Katie and Sarah; great grandchildren, Serenity, McKayla, Kendra and Jacob; his mother, Josephine Livengood of Bridgman; and sisters, Delores (Vernon) Coe of Big Rapids, Michigan and Jenny (John) Maier of Hubert, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, and brothers, Dallas and Joe.
