Walter L. Mertz, of Littleton, Colorado, was born in Clarksburg, WV on Dec. 2, 1918. Walter grew up in Flagstaff, AZ; graduated from the University of New Mexico and served as a Captain with the Air Force in England during WWII. For many years Walter was a Structural Engineer with the Stearns-Roger Corp. in Denver until his retirement in 1982. Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ilene B. Mertz. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen (Peter) Derschang of Englewood, CO; son David (Suzi) of Ft. Collins, CO; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Recitation of Rosary, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 7 pm, Drinkwine Family Mortuary.
