Walter Jefferson Baker, age 76, passed away in early morning hours on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrolton, surrounded by family. He was born September 7, 1941 in Coweta County, GA to the late Emmett Lafayette Baker and Nora Harris Baker.
Walter spent 34 years working for the city of Newnan as a firefighter. After retiring from the city, Walter enjoyed spending his time farming and keeping his garden in perfect shape. Although he enjoyed his time in the garden, he found true happiness in spending his time with his family and friends. Walter will be missed by so many of the dear friends and family he loved so much.
The funeral service is Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan with Rev. Mike Harris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 13th from 6 PM until 8 PM at McKoon Funeral Home.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Bettie Hawk Baker; children, Greg Baker and his wife Lisa, Leahann Wilson and her husband Thomas, Jill Kilgore, Keith Baker and his wife Terri, Amy Rudder and her husband Marty; grandchildren, Wesley Kilgore, Amanda Wilson, Kristyn Kilgore, Brandon Baker, Nic Stanford, Aidan Rudder, Nadia Rudder; great grandchildren, Kylie Kilgore, Eli Lanning, Keragan Kilgore and brother Vance Baker.
