WALTER J. FIELD, JR.

February 20, 1939 ~ October 19, 2022

 

Walter J. Field, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022 at Forest Ridge Senior Living in Woodland Park, Colorado. He was 83 years old. Walter was born on February 20, 1939 in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, to Walter and Lucille Field. He was an only child.

 

Walter enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1956 in New York City, NY. He was called to active duty in 1958 at Coast Guard Group Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock, NJ and Walter proudly served aboard the US Coast Guard Cutter Mackinac from 1958-1960. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

 

Walter was a loving husband and father. Walter married Janet on March 23, 1963. He was married to Janet for over 54 years and together they had two children, Jeffrey and Cheryl. They lived in Middletown, NJ and later moved to Colorado.

 

Walter had a long career in the firefighting industry. His commitment and devotion to it was unsurpassed. Walter was a fire protection, fire prevention and fire safety consultant to the petrochemical industry, as well as a fire engineer and petrochemical foam specialist. At a young age, he was a volunteer fireman at the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.

 

Walter was a patriotic veteran and always had the American flag flying proudly at his home and on his boat. His duty to serve and protect others impacted the lives of too many people to count. He strove to carry himself with dignity and was a man of great courage, bravery and strength. Walter was an extremely special person to so many people and will be deeply missed…

 

Walter is survived by his daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Wesley; brother-in-law Thomas and his wife Penny; nephew Brian and his partner Jared; nephew Mike and his wife Kelley; and cousins. Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet, his son Jeffrey, his parents Walter and Lucille, and his step-father Stephen.
