Troy – Walter H. Zinck, 95, formerly of Yonkers, died Friday, September 9, 2022, at Daughters of Sarah Albany, after a brief illness.
Born in Manhattan, NY, he was son of the late Heinrich Zinck and Martha Wenzel Zinck and husband of the late Ellen Saushen Zinck. He had resided in Manhattan for 9 years and in Hamburg, Germany before moving to Yonkers at the age of 20 where he lived most of his life. He did an electrical apprenticeship in Germany.
Walter was a machinist for Otis Elevator in Yonkers for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the German-American Club and enjoyed dancing and beer.
Survivors include a son, Richard (Jeanette) Zinck, Ft. Myers, FL; a daughter, Vera (Michael) Qualitero, Troy; his grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Richard A. (Amy) Zinck, Terri Hughes, Erika Qualitero and Michael (Nicole) Qualitero, Jr. ; his great grandchildren, Avery, Chloe and Emily Qualitero and Patrice Zinck and longtime companion, Marie. He was predeceased by his son, Herbert Zinck and a brother, William Moeller.
