Walter E. Whitcomb, Jr., age 51, of Rensselaer passed away April 17, 2015, at Jasper County Hospital. Walter was a former resident of Hammond, Fair Oaks and Goodland, Indiana.
He was born in Chicago on January 3, 1964, the son of Walter Whitcomb, Sr. and Anna (Weglesworth) Whitcomb. Walter graduated from Hammond Tech High School with the Class of 1982, and attended the Area Career Center in Hammond for two years. Walter was a retired carpenter, working for the International Brotherhood of Carpenters #1539 out of Chicago. On July 25, 1992, in Hammond, Walter married Laura (Bodnar) who survives.
Surviving with his loving wife Laura are two children, Michael Levi Whitcomb and Samantha Nicole Whitcomb, both of Rensselaer; two grandchildren, Xander Eli Jordan and Isaiah Liam Whitcomb; two sisters, Theresa Danderson of Lakeland, Florida and Dawn (Richard) Simnick of Fair Oaks, one brother, Timothy Abbott of Gary, Ind., and many loving nieces and nephews.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Anna Whitcomb and two sisters, Brenda Trinka and Wallie Anna Llams.
