Wallace E. Mann was born in Hood River, Oregon on May 22, 1937, to
Pauline (Reinecker) and Phil Mann. When Wally was about a year old the family moved to Boise and purchased five acres on Phillippi Rd. While attending Boise Public Schools he participated in Newspaper Typesetting and ROTC. He graduated from Boise High School in 1956.
During this busy summer he also went on a blind date and met his future wife Norma Hilton. It was love at first sight. They married shortly after that and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this last December.
Wally’s employment trades ranged from steel pipe work, carpentry and hydraulic mechanic. He loved being a finish carpenter.
Wally had numerous hobbies and most of them involved his love of the Idaho outdoors. He was an avid sportsman and relished the time he shared with his family and friends in those activities. He also enjoyed teaching the kids water skiing, fishing and just driving around the lake in his favorite boat.
Camping at the “Family Lot” was a huge part of his life.
Wally and Norma have raised three children: Dana (and Laurie Mann), Anita (and Darnal Alexander), Craig (and Kim Mann); six grandchildren: Chelsea, Justin, Mitchel, Austin, Shauna, Cassie; Nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister JoAnn, sister-in-laws Beverly and Gail, and brother-in-laws Gary and Lester; and, his beloved dog Odie.
