Wallace Lyle Koone, age 85, of Alpena died Saturday October 20, 2012 at his home. He was born April 9th 1927 at Rupert, Arkansas to the late Calvin Koone and Judith Nelson. On May 3rd 1947 he was united in marriage to Artie (Harris) Koone who preceded him in death in 2006. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy May 18th 1945 to February 1950. Lyle became a born again Christian in 1955 at his home in Redway, California and was called into the ministry on June 27th 1957. In 1959 he became an ordained Baptist minister. Over the years he pastored several churches in California and Arkansas. For the past 12 years he served as associate pastor of Osage Baptist Church. His ministry extended to everyone he encountered daily, friends, strangers and to all who would listen. Lyle was also a gifted teacher, song leader and could quote many scriptures from memory. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening. He is survived by three daughters; Gwen and husband Lannie Younger of Alpena, Sue and husband Ronnie Willis of Harmon, Kathy Burks of Harmon, one son; J.W. and wife Mary Lou Koone of Conway, Arkansas ten Grandchildren and twenty four Great-Grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife he is also preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Kaciee Willis, five brothers,two sisters and one son-in-law, Charlie Burks.
