He passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk.
Waine Harold Kruse was born July 21, 1925 in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, the son of Louis and Hilda (Hermann) Kruse. He was baptized on August 23, 1925 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church north of Omaha. The family moved to Northeast Nebraska in 1931, first near Sholes, NE and then to McLean, Nebraska. He attended rural school near Fort Calhoun and Sholes and then continued school in McLean graduating in 1943.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 9/21/45 to 1/28/47. Waine received a WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. His military specialty was Military Policeman, 6th MP Platoon.
On January 5, 1958, Waine married Janice Ann Wecker at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Randolph.
He worked for Backus Trucking of McLean, NE, Dawson Oil in Osmond, NE until 1969, and then U.S. Post Office in Norfolk until retiring in 1990.
Waine was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and was active on many committees when he was able. He participated in the Good Neighbors Program, Meals on Wheels, and loved volunteering.
Waine is survived by his children Tami (Don) Horn of Norfolk, Lisa (Dan) Stark of Plainview, Laurie (Terry) Roberts of Carroll, and Mark (Theresa) Kruse of Rochester, New York; grandchildren Kirby (Brandon) Hall, Kathryn (Justin) Floyd, Kristofer (Sara) Roberts, Kelyn Roberts, Jason Stark, Justin (Ashley) Stark, Jamie (Holly) Stark, Zachary Kruse, and Phillip Kruse; five great grandchildren; brothers Gene (Mildred) Kruse, Dale Kruse, Larry (Eva) Kruse, sister Ila Rae(Duane) Meacham, sisters-in-law Judi Tannahill, Cindi Hobelman, Diane Pfanstiel, JoAnne(Raymond) Timmerman, and Marge Kruse; brother-in-law LeRoy Dommer, special friend Jan Froehlich and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janice in 1988, brother Marlyn Kruse of Randolph, NE and sister Kathryn Dommer of Spencer, Wisconsin.
