Wade Robert Russey, 92, a long time resident of Farmington, New Mexico passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2019 in La Plata, New Mexico.
   Wade was born to Mae Abilene Godbehere and Wade Robert Russey on September 9th, 1926. He was the second oldest of six children.
Wade served many sodas to Jo, the love of his life, at Doolens Pharmacy where he worked as a soda fountain clerk before entering the Navy.
   Wade entered the Navy on August 3rd, 1944. He was assigned to Amphibious Personnel Attacks. He had specific training for this in Coronado Island in California. “Luckily he didn’t have to use this training.” He served on the USS Colbert, where he was a Seaman. Him, along with his team would transport soldiers ready for war to the Okinawa Beach. He also served on the USS Blue Ridge, and the USS Lubbock.
   Wade was honorably discharged on July 23rd, 1946. When he got back home, he and Jo married on November 12th, 1946. He went to college at Oklahoma University in Norman Oklahoma for four years, where he got his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy. Wade worked in Wichita Falls, Texas and Lubbock, Texas. In 1959, Wade, Jo, and their two daughters moved to Farmington, New Mexico where he opened Boaz Pharmacy, and eventually bought out Boaz, changing the name to Russey Pharmacy.
   Wade was very active in the Animas Masonic Lodge for 48 years, where he was awarded the Kit Carson Award in 2005. He was a member of many branches, including Farmington York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Valley of Santa Fe, Ballute Abyod Shrine, Red Cross of Constantine, and Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest among others. He was also an avid fisherman and golfer.
