Jewett City–W. Robert Gelinas, age 80, died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Wm. W. Backus Hospital.
Robert was born on April 10, 1933, in Norwich, CT., a son to the late Wilfred and Leona (Belanger) Gelinas. On July 4, 1961 he was married to Jacqueline (Methot) Gelinas at St.
Robert was a U. S. Army Veteran and a graduate of the University of Bridgeport where he received a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to his retirement in 1996 Robert worked as a principal engineer at Man Roland and Heidelberg Harris that was formerly known as Harris Graphics Corporation. In addition to his professional life, Robert served his community as the Treasurer for the Republican Town Committee in Griswold and the Griswold Historical Society. After retiring, both he and his wife spent winters living in Cypress Woods RV Resort in Ft. Myers, FL.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters Lynette Gelinas and husband David Pietrowski of CA, SharonGelinas and husband Jeff Laub of WA; a sister Bernice Dombkowski of FL; grandchildren Sophie and Lucie Gelinas and Kathryn Laub.
