Vyrling (Phelps) McNeill, 93, of Eastham, MA, formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of Ernest M. McNeill Sr. for 68 years, died peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Wingate at Harwich after an extended illness. Vyrling was born on November 11, 1923 in Suffield, CT., daughter of the late Jasper and Ada Phelps. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Suffield Academy, Class of 1941. Vyrling was an avid and talented crafter. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch and crocheting and many of her creations were given as gifts to family and friends. In addition to her husband Ernie, she is survived by her daughter Cindy Balsamo and her husband Fred of Wallingford, her two sons; Ernest M. McNeill Jr. of Avon and Scott McNeill and his wife Charlanne of Granby, four loving grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Vincent Balsamo and his wife Christina and their children Joseph and Jacob Balsamo, Nicholas Balsamo and his wife Kristen and their son Max, Lizzie McNeill and Mike McNeill. She is also survived by two brothers; William Phelps of Windsor Locks and Thomas Phelps and his wife Cathy of Rocky Hill and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Vyrling was predeceased by her son Robert McNeill, her brother Jasper Phelps and her step-mother Beatrice Phelps.
