Voncille Marie Jordan Johnson, a resident of McIntosh, traded time for eternity Monday, June 17, 2020, while at Spring Hill Memorial Hospital. Voncille was affectionately known as “Nanny” and “Von.” Born Oct 24, 1956 to Samuel Jordan and Clotilde Jordan, she was 63 years of age.
A graduate of McIntosh High School in the Class of 1975, Voncille would retire from the Mobile County School System where she worked faithfully as one of their beloved “Lunchroom Ladies” for many years at McDavid-Jones Elementary, formerly Rosa A. Lott Elementary.
She had a heart of gold that could be felt by all who interacted with her. Von was the glue that kept the family together. With a love that knew no limits, whether it was babysitting, cooking, motherly advice or being a listening ear to all in need, she was there. Von really came alive when it came to her children and grandchildren.
Best known for delicious jelly cakes, pound cakes, fluffy biscuits, shopping for purses, shoes, jewelry and riding along with her sister Katie or her dear friend Tarasita.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two loving and devoted sons, Jacoby (Tiffany) Jordan Sr. and Wilburt (Jamea) Johnson Jr.; six grandchildren, Jacovia, Jacoby Jr., Brayden, Bryson, Brenton and Waylan; five siblings, Richard (Veronica) Jordan Sr., Katie (Joe) Russell, Charles (Belinda) Jordan Sr., Carolyn (Carl) Powe and Joseph (Tara) Jordan Sr.; three godchildren, Shonda (Ron) Taylor, Michael (Melissa) Jordan and Kanesha Jordan; two great-aunts, Bertha Mae Dennis and Mable Skanes; three great-uncles, Darryl (Mary) Jordan, Glen Jordan and Sylvester Skanes Jr.; with a host of devoted nieces and nephews raised as her own. In concern for omitting someone, many close and very special friends are not listed.
