Von E. Dix, 84, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on August 29, 2022. He was born April 22, 1938 in Harveyville, Kansas to Harvey and Lois Dix. Von was the eldest of three children.  He graduated in 1956 from Manhattan High School, Manhattan, Kansas. Von then attended Kansas State University and finished his studies at the University of Arizona. For six years he served in the Army National Guard.

Von relocated to Arizona in 1961. In 1966, Von constructed his first home in Scottsdale, doing most of the work himself. As president of Dix Corporation for 22 years, he was a premier luxury home builder with numerous developments. Von became a Valley leader with regard to the application of innovative building techniques.

Von will be remembered as one of the most active of Scottsdale’s prominent leaders. For 10 years he was the Director of the Central Arizona Home Builders Association, including in 1980 serving as President.  In 1982, Von served as president of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Board of Directors of ScottsCom Bank; a life member of the Scottsdale Charros; President of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale; and past President of The Foundation for the Handicapped.  Also, he was Chairman of the Charros Committee that brought World Championship Tennis to Scottsdale. In addition, Von was the Chairman of a Boys Club fund drive to raise $2 million for construction of a third Boys Club branch.

As we celebrate Von’s remarkable life, his friends and family will recall and miss the patient and loving manner in which he treated each person he encountered. His love and devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren will always be a cherished memory. At every opportunity, Von found time with his wife and family to enjoying boating, water skiing, biking, fishing, swimming, ping pong and vacationing in Coronado, California.  

Von is survived by his wife Brenda Wix; children: Cary Dix, Sheri Jacobson, Kevin Dix and Jamie Lucarelli; step-children: Trevor Wix and Cadence Wix; grandchildren: Regan Oelze, Tres Oelze, Morgan Dix, Jameson Lucarelli and Juliet Lucarelli; step-grandchildren: Gabriel Wix, Brandon Wix and Matthew Wix;  and sister Barbara Bock and brother Roger Dix.

Von was preceded in death by grandchildren Lauren Oelze and Connor Dix.
