Williamsport, MD – Vivian Shirley Smith, 85, of Williamsport, MD and formerly of Baltimore, MD passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Williamsport Retirement Center Williamsport, MD.

Born, November 27, 1928 in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles Philemon and Harriet Elizabeth Brown Miles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Moritz Smith, Jr.

She was a bus driver with the Washington County Board of Education until her retirement.

She was a member of Bridge of Life Church Hagerstown, MD and Calvary Temple Williamsport, MD.

Her and her sister Naomi are the founders and operators of the Ministry Koinonia North.

Vivian spent her life helping others. She moved to Williamsport to help her brother Rev. Vernon Miles with his church Calvary Temple. She started the Faith Chapel in her home and moved it to Hagerstown where it is presently the Bridge of Life Church.

She served on the Community Action Council. She helped with various food banks in the area and spoke at many organizations including Women’s Aglow.

Vivian’s specialty was preparing meals, she served as many as 40 people in her home at times.

Daughter: Debbie Cline and her husband Howard of Falling Waters, WV

Son: Jeff Smith and his wife Debbie of Hagerstown, MD

Sister: Naomi Mattheiss of Silver Spring, MD

Sister-In-Law: Myrna Persinger and her husband John of Sun City, FL

She was predeceased by a son John Moritz Smith, III, sisters Ethel Crews and Viola Miles, and three brothers Bill Miles, Ellsworth Miles and Rev. Vernon Miles.
