Vivian Marie Sams was born January 24, 1941 in Chariton, Iowa to Walter and Leona (Clark) Cook. She passed from this life August 31, 2012 at the Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson, Missouri at the age of 71 years.
Vivian grew up around the Chariton area, where she also attended school. In May 1960, she graduated from Chariton Community High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon Duane Sams on May 28, 1961 in Newbern, Iowa. To this union, five children were born, Bonita, Debra, Michelle, Matthew, and Julia.
Throughout her life, her main focus was family. She enjoyed the time she spent taking care of her husband and children. Other interests included crocheting, sewing, gardening, motorcycle riding and the love of travel. Vivian belonged to the Ladies American Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leona Cook and one sister, Elizabeth.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Sams of Chariton, Ia; her children, Bonita(Jody) Warnock of Vicksburg, MS, Debra (Al) Lindsey of Chariton, IA, Michelle ( Bruce) Adams of Ames, IA, Dr. Matthew (Tricia) Sams of Branson, Mo, and Julia (Arch) Bay of Derby, IA; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and family friends.
