Vivian L. “Viv” Hippensteal, 88, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in her home. She was the husband of the late Harry W. Hippensteal, who died in 1986. Born in Springdale, she was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Edna May (Drummond) Barkey. Vivian was a graduate of Liberty High School. She enjoyed volunteering at the Southside Ministries and at St. Lukes Hopsital. Vivian was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where she worked in the Thrift Shop and volunteered in the church office. She was very active at Moravian House in Bethlehem, where she lived previously for ten years. Vivian also enjoyed playing computer games, reading and camping. Survivors: Daughter, Gale E. Bogart, with whom she resided; son, Gary W. Hippensteal of San Jose, CA; brother, Donald A. Barkey and his wife Carole of Bethlehem; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany, Stephanie, Jennifer, Barry Jr. and Rocky; 7 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha, Gavyn, Evan, Ryan, Mayalye and Hailey; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alena. Vivian was preceded in death by a brother Theodore A. Barkey.
