Viva McFarland
Farmington – Passed from this life Tuesday December 15, 2020 at the age of 99 years and 19 days. She was born November 26, 1921 to Roy and Della Wheat in Stephens, Oklahoma. She graduated Farmington High School and then married Clyde McFarland in 1942. They enjoyed 56 years together. She worked along side Clyde farming their place on Southside River Road and later in Arkansas. At the young age of 60 Viva took up painting and won many ribbons including several Best of Show awards at the San Juan County Fair. Viva was also famous for her beans, buns, cinnamon rolls, banana pudding, pumpkin and pecan pies. Family members and friends fondly cherish the many wonderful dinners and “singings” held at her home.
Viva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; son, Paul Roy; brothers, Raymond and Jack Wheat; sisters, Margurite Williams, Virginia Birdwell, and Bennie Jo Sledge. She is survived by her sons, DeWayne (Karen) of Bloomfield and Perry (Eva) of Las Cruces; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and friends.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Gingrich Home and the amazing staff that took such excellent care of Viva the last three years of her life.
