Virginia Ann Stanley was born March 2, 1943 to the union of James Ella Hayes and Homes Hayes, Sr. She confessed her love in Christ and was baptized at an early age. She attended Williams Elementary School where she graduated. From there she enrolled and later graduated from Wendell Phillips High School. After earning her high school diploma, Virginia matriculated into an institute of higher learning, Jones College Prep School.
Virginia aka Penny met and married John Stanley. To this union her eldest child was born, Jamesella Hayes. In 1967 Penny met her life long partner John Henderson Defrance whom she had twin daughters by Thelma and Velma Stanley.
Penny departed this life on October 13, 2022 and was preceded in death by her mother and father and 10 siblings. Sam, Edward, Glen, James, Jackie, Thelma, Lacy and Homer Hayes. Rebecca Neeley and Rosie Lee Battle.
Penny leaves to cherish her memory 3 children; Jamesella Hayes, Thelma and Velma Stanley. 4 Grandchildren, Glende Hayes Golden, Stephen Hayes, Edward Hayes and Mia Walton, 23 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews, 1 sister in law Audrey Slayton and a host of family and friends. It is with a heavy heart, and yet the joy of remembrance that we say good night to our dear Penny, sleep well.
