Virginia R. Ventura, 80, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away in Needham, Massachusetts on February 4, 2013, after dealing with multiple health issues for a long period of time. She was predeceased by her son, Daniel Ventura, Jr. who died December 27,2010 and her husband of 56 years, Daniel Ventura, who died November 11, 2007 and granddaughter Nicole V. Ventura who died March 6, 2006.
Born in 1932 in New York City, daughter of Mary Lugo and Eugene Gonzalez, she remained in New York until shortly after her marriage when she soon settled down in Montville, Connecticut. Traveling to Puerto Rico , where she spent many winters, was her favorite pastime. A lady with a strong personality tempered with a humorous, quick wit she enjoyed playing games especially Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy. While in her twenties she was instrumental in getting House Bill 4863, an immigration bill, passed in congress with the guidance of Congressman Lester Holtzman.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Virginia Colburn and her husband Kenneth of Dover, MA; granddaughter Elizabeth Colburn of Boston, MA; grandson Edward Colburn of Boston. MA; grandson Daniel Ventura III of Colchester, CT and three great grandsons, Giovanni, Aiden and Ryan and a special cousin, Terry Randolph of Oakdale.
