Virginia Piccolo, 92, of 524 West 114th St., New York City, passed away April 16, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital, New York. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Umberto and Lucia Esposito Piccolo. Following her strong professional interest in journalism, she worked for many years at Time Magazine, the Herald Tribune, Sesame Street and, for the last 30 years of her career, the New York Times. She was a graduate of LarsonJunior College (now QuinnipiacUniversity). She was the devoted aunt to 25 nieces and nephews. She is survived by one brother, Albert Piccolo of Huntington Beach, CA., and two sisters, Jane Shaffer of New York City, and Jessie O’Neill, of Reston, VA. She was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Dr. Pasquale, Louis, Dr. James and Salvatore Piccolo, and one sister, Mary Minnella., 424 Elm St. (corner of Dwight), New Haven Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. Mass at St.
