Virginia Mae Nielsen (nee Addleman), born November 20, 1927, in Gretna, Nebraska passed away on November 24, 2022. She was the youngest of six children. She married the love of her life, Fredrick Nielsen, on August 20, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Nora Sotak (Richard), Nels Nielsen (Terry), Chris Nielsen (Jan), Ruth Fogleman (George); nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son, Nels; and grandson, Nels C.
Virginia was a mother and homemaker while raising her children, then worked as a Secretary for the NM Auto Dealers Association. Virginia was active in her church and a member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) serving on local, zone, and district boards. After Fred’s retirement, Virginia and Fred worked for Laborers for Christ helping build 12 churches and serving two missionary trips to Sierra Leone and Nigeria, Africa. After retiring completely, Virginia continued to work in the church and serve in the LWML.
Virginia’s greatest joy was her family and friends both far and near. She attended bible studies, sewed, baked, served dinners, and demonstrated a love of the little things in life. She will be remembered for her smile and how she made people feel special.
