Virginia Mae Green was born March 13, 1922 in Milan, Michigan. She was currently enjoying her later years at Friendship Village in Kalamazoo. On New Year’s Day 2019, Virginia passed from us and started the year in a new and better place. We will miss her great laugh and silly wit, and her arms that encircled everyone with her caring and love. She left behind many beloved friends and family including her only daughter Victoria Martin and son-in-law Jim Martin, along with her grandchildren Alan and Alison Martin, who were the joy of her life.

Virginia graduated from Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti, MI in 1940 and went on to have a busy career as a school and courthouse secretary. She was also an active volunteer as a Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout leader for many years. Virginia’s creative talents led her to poetry writing and the creation of many songs and lyrics with several published. Her love of golf, euchre, music and being the life of the party were evident throughout her life.

Virginia was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church for 40 years and lived and loved her home on West Lake. Her favorite bible passage was one loved by her mother, who lived a healthy 108 years, cherishing this thought “Thou will keep in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee”.
