Virginia M. Reid, (Shinn) 95, died on Sunday Jan. 21, 2013 in the Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Florida
Mrs. Reid graduated from the John Marshall College Law School in 1939. She was a volunteer for 35 years with the American Red Cross and maintained a field office on Kearny Avenue which she was at every day in her Red Cross uniform. She also served as chairperson of the Essex County unit for 5 years before retiring from service.
Virginia was a member of the Forest Hill Field Club, Belleville where she was an avid golfer and a member of the Arlington Woman’s Club, Kearny. She was a member of the Red Hatters in Florida for 25 years.
Born in Jersey City she lived in Kearny for many years before moving to Florida
over 30 years ago.
She and her late husband Edward T. Reid, Sr. in 1942 founded the former Edward T.
“Ginny” is survived by her grandchildren Sandra, Edward T., III (Diana) and Robert T. Jr., and five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward T., Sr. and her sons Robert T. and Edward T. Jr. “Skipper”
