Virginia Leigh Davidsmeyer, 90, of Jacksonville, IL, died Aug. 13, 2021, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

She was born May 18, 1931, in Jacksonville, the daughter of James and Lenore Pearson Belzer.

She is survived by three daughters and one son, Peggy (Christine Miller) Davidsmeyer of Mt. Vernon, WA, Sally Davidsmeyer Grodey (deceased husband Bruce) of Paige, TX, Luann Davidsmeyer, and Jeffrey (Teresa) Davidsmeyer, all of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and J.R. Davidsmeyer of Springfield. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Zimmerman, Mary Lou Fuller, and Shirley Houghman (surviving husband Don of Greenville, SC).

Virginia was a 1949 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She also enjoyed being a member of Jacksonville Country Club. Virginia was a well-known local artist, studying with Howard Sidman of MacMurray College. She introduced the art style Batik to Central Illinois. She was also a longtime member of the Art Association of Jacksonville. Virginia was an avid reader and loved everyone at the Jacksonville Public Library. She was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
