Virginia Lee Beerup, 89, of Jacksonville, IL, more recently a resident of Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville, IL, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.
She was born March 4, 1928, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Byron and Elizabeth Lee Turley Stewart. She married Otto E. Beerup, Jr. on March 23, 1952, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1969.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori Lee Northcutt of Jerseyville; a grandson, Andrew Northcutt of Jerseyville; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, John Robert “Rob” Beerup.
Virginia was a 1945 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended Illinois College prior to her graduation in 1949 from MacMurray College. In addition to being a farm wife, Virginia was employed at the Morgan County ASCS office, the Morgan County Board of Realtors office, and did survey work for Prairie Farmer magazine. She also served as a representative of Avon for 26 years.
She was a long-time member of Central Christian Church and a life member of the Passavant Hospital Auxiliary. In the past, she volunteered at Passavant Hospital and was involved in the Junior Women’s Club.
