Devoted mother, caregiver, and nurturer.

Virginia Jernigan went home on Sunday February 27, 2022, at her Aurora, Colorado home with her family by her side. Virginia was born September 10, 1929, in the city of Manilla, in the Philippine Islands. Daughter of Esteban Enriquez and Maxine Navarro. She met SFC Paul Jernigan Jr, and they were married in the Philippines on July 2, 1947. This union produced 14 children, 9 daughters, 5 sons, as well as host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She is survived by her extended family in the Philippines and in the United States, as well as a host of longtime friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Jernigan Jr, her son Paul Jernigan III, and her daughter Susan Jernigan.

Virginia enjoyed time with her family, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. She loved raising her family on their farm as well as in Denver, Colorado. Virginia loved the Denver Broncos, cooking, going up to Blackhawk, Colorado, and she loved to travel. Virginia will especially be remembered for her loving heart, kindness, acceptance, and generosity of anyone in need. She never turned anyone away. The most beautiful person we had known is one who had known defeat, known sacrifice, known struggle, known loss, and yet had the most appreciation, sensitivity, and understanding of life with the most compassion and love for us all. Our teacher, our advice giver, our rock. We are wiser because of you, we are more patient because of you, we are kinder because of you, as well as more understanding and listen with more purpose because of you.

Although we will miss her, we will hold her forever in our hearts. Heaven has gained an angel.
