Virginia (Burdick) Hawley, 99, passed away peacefully on Nov. 9, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Oct. 11, 1923 in New Hartford, CT to Asa Burdick and Anna (Haberern) Burdick.
She resided in New Hartford her entire life. Family meant everything to Virginia, known as “Ginny” by her loved ones. She was a woman of faith. She devoted her life to family and friends which was apparent by the epicenter that her home was. Ginny was selfless and giving. She would do anything for her grandchildren making them feel that they were the most important person in the world when they were with her. She was a caregiver for many children, an avid reader, loved to tag sale, and heartily enjoyed food. Ginny was a unique character who could warm anyone’s heart.
Virginia is survived by daughter Patricia Mallory (Robert), and sons Donald Hawley (Marilyn), Richard Hawley (Dorothy), Mark Hawley (Mae), six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband (of 66 years) Burton Hawley, son Burton D. Hawley, sisters Helen Chatfield, Ruth Adams, Evelyn Scully, Dorothy Thompsen and brother Paul Burdick. A special thanks to Ginny’s devoted caregiver, Doreen Harrison, for her unending care and love for the last six and a half years, who has become family.
