Virginia Ginger Lea Maltimore, 56, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1951 in Carrollton, the daughter of Floyd L. and Goldie M. McMillen Talkington. She married Robert Bob Maltimore on April 5, 1975 in Roodhouse and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, Eric Wayne Maltimore of Jacksonville; one daughter, Lisa (husband, Nathan) McEvers of Columbus, GA.; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Hardwick and Rita (husband, John) Sechrest, both of Mountain View, MO.; four grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey, Alyssa and Tyler McEvers, all of Columbus, GA.; four step-grandsons, Jonathan, William, Wayne Sechrest and Raymond Daiker, all of Mountain View, MO.; two sisters, Vicky (husband, Mike) Fry of White Hall and Joyce (husband, Terry) Glenn of Athens and one special niece, Dani Glascock. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bruce and David Talkington and Dennis Talkington in infancy; and two sisters, Brenda Johnson Richmond and Janice Scoggins.
Mrs. Maltimore was a 1969 graduate of North Greene High School and graduated from School District #117 School of Practical Nursing in 1981. She volunteered at Passavant Area Hospital and worked for Golden Moments Senior Care for the past seven years before her illness caused her to retire. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and an alumnus of Citizens Police Academy. She loved her children and grandchildren, playing bingo and slot machines and was especially fond of her cat, Pooh-Pooh.
