MERRIMAC – Virginia (Ginger) Hebb, 88, longtime resident of Merrimac, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
She was born in Nashua, NH, daughter of the late Florant and Thelma (Grovesnor) Godbout. Ginger to her friends, enjoyed life to the fullest. Family and friends were everything to her. She worked and played hard all her life. Ginger was a Lioness with the Plaistow Lions and traveled extensively with her “BFF” Fran Shallow. Her and Fran were always up to something from travel, slots, bingo or cruises, they were game for it. Lots of laughs when they were together. After Frans passing, Ginger did more traveling with her sister in-law Marie and her husband Ross Potter.
She was always there for anyone who needed help. Toward the end she needed a little assistance. Her family is eternally grateful for her neighbors around Emery Street, who were always there to help. And a special thanks to her neighbor Diane who checked on her multiple times a day. They all truly gave good meaning to the term “NEIGHBORHOOD.”
Survived by her son Michael Shaw and wife Corrine; granddaughter Erin Steele and husband Christopher; siblings the late Richard Godbout and wife Katherine, late Margaret Minkle and husband Kenneth, late Bruce Godbout and wife Judy; mother of the late infant son Barry. Ginger was married for several years to Robert Shaw.
