Mrs. Virginia Lee Davis-Selbe, Indianapolis, passed away on the evening of Saturday, October 19, 2019. She was 76. Ginny was born February 12, 1943 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Bernard Leroy Hawkins, Sr. and Jewell Annetta (Clements) Hawkins.
Ginny attended Wood High School and worked for 15 years with Indianapolis Public Schools and retired in 2002 as a cafeteria manger. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed bringing a smile to others by being funny and acting silly. She spent her leisure time sewing, reading her Bible, watching religious programming and praying for others. She particularly loved her family and being with them. Ginny will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and spiritual friend.
Ginny is survived by her children, Leonare (Gordon) Smith and Jeffrey Davis; grandchildren, Ciera Davis, Jennifer Smith, Gordon Smith III, Jeffrey L. Davis, Jack A. Davis, Ricky Utke and Kristi Finn-Utke; great-grandchildren, Anthony Davis, Jordan Gooch, Dustin Gooch Jr., Ezra Griffin, Jacob Davis, Cadion Lynn and Gordon Smith IV; her siblings, Nancy Mendenhall, Marcia (Alvin) Rains, Ronald (Rhonda) Hawkins, Cathy (Mike) Ruiz and Debra (Gary) Groce as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her first husband, Leonard William Davis, Sr., her second husband, John Selbe; two sons, Anthony Wayne Davis and Stanley Dean Davis and three brothers, Bernard Leroy Hawkins, Jr., James Albert Hawkins and David Allen Hawkins.
