Virginia P. Capponi, 93, of Rome, passed away at home on September 30, 2020.

A native Roman, Virginia was born on January 6, 1927 and was the eldest daughter of Frank and Mary Console Parry. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.  On October 25, 1952, she married Angelo Capponi at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rome, where she was a lifelong member. They were blessed with two daughters, and two grandchildren.  Virginia worked at Rome Cable, and then spent many years at the Rome Board of Education, retiring in 2005.
Virginia was a devoted attendee of daily mass at St. John’s as well as an avid Yankees fan. We will remember and miss her generously of spirit and devotion to her family, especially evident in the many holiday dinners she hosted over the years and the millions of cookies she distributed to loved ones.  Her tender heart extended to animals, and she supported many humane organizations.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mary Angela Morrisroe and Laurie Capponi; two grandchildren, Demian and Charissa Morrisroe; a brother, Joseph (Delores) Parry; a sister, Amelia Iselo; sister in law, Patricia Parry; many beloved nieces and nephews; and three special granddogs. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Angelo; four brothers, Anthony, Louie, Frank and Thomas Parry; and a sister, Loretta (Parry) Wrafter.
The family extends gratitude to Virginia’s caregiver, Tracey Ferlo, who kept her organized, laughing and entertained this past year.
