Virginia Bassett Fritch was born July 9, 1928, in Skiatook and passed away July 6, 2013. Her parents were George Dewey and Nora Ledbetter Bassett. In 1931, she lived in Alva, moved to Oklahoma City in 1938 and then to Norman in 1939, where she attended Lincoln and Wilson Elementary, Norman High, and the University of Oklahoma.
Virginia married John Edward Fritch of Norman in 1947 and their children are: Holly Fritch-Kirby, M.D. and John E. Fritch, Ph.D. (Jeff). Her careers were first a loving wife and then busy mother followed by 14 years as an executive secretary for an aircraft company, then 13 years as a Controller Accountant for a utility-line clearance company, and 22 years as a real estate broker associate. She truly loved and enjoyed her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, William “Bill” Bassett and sister-in-law, Maxine Bassett.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly and her husband Jim Kirby of Kansas City; son, Jeff and his wife Rhonda of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Valerie and her husband Joshua Lenzotti of Golden, Colo., Jonna Fritch of Las Vegas, Israel Fritch, also of Las Vegas, and Jennifer and Joe Goldsmith; great-grandchildren, Casey and Cora Goldsmith, Miles Lenzotti, her brother, George and his wife Ruth Bassett; and nieces and nephews, Roxanne Bassett, Charlotte and husband Jeff Sellers, Peggy and her husband David Morosan, Mary Bassett, Grant and his wife Mary Bassett, Rebekah and her husband Eric Nelson, Christopher and his wife Amy Bassett, Gary and his wife Nancy Bassett, LeAnn and her husband Jack Wheat; and good friend, Juhree Bassett.
Mom inspired us to be responsible for ourselves and to treat others as we would wish to be treated. But, most importantly, we knew that mom, and our extended family, loved us.
