Mrs. Virginia Barringer Miller, 100, of Salisbury, left this life peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

Virginia was born in Salisbury on October 30, 1912 to the late John Henry Barringer Sr. and Nannie Long Barringer.

Mrs. Miller attended Union School and graduated from Boyden High School in 1931.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed being a homemaker.

As the oldest member of Union Lutheran Church, Virginia had dedicated 62 years teaching the nursery Sunday school class, helped with VBS, received a life membership with the Women of the Southern Seminary Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Ellen Cox Circle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Junius Miller; brother, George Barringer; grandsons, Mark Miller and Andrew Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, G. Wayne (Pat), Lloyd (Barbara), Harold (Donnell), and Dwight; daughter, LaVerne (Ken); sisters, Catherine Mahaley and Sarah Ann Bame; brother, John Henry Barringer, Jr.; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their special gratitude to caregivers Sandra Silvia and Mary Ann Lane, the staff at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, Dr. Barrier, Dr. Luoma, and Christy Morefield.
