Mrs. Virginia B. Hovatter Peters, 94 of Grafton, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at her home surrounded by family. She was born September 6, 1922 in Grafton, the daughter of the late Alston Gordon and Jeanette Ellen Crayton Hovatter.Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 58 years, Carder C. Peters, June 14, 2004.Virginia is survived by one son, David C Peters and daughter-in-law, Paula of Paintsville, KY; and one daughter, Penny D Arnold and son-in-law Ed of Clarksburg; She had four granddaughters: Kelly Criss (Marc) of Sachse, TX, Mindy Schmitt of Cross Lanes, WV, Cassie Rowland (Scott) of Flat Gap, KY, and Krista Gass (Kraig) of Stephens City, VA; three grandsons: David C. Peters ll (Tina) and Kirby Risner( Michelle), both of Salyersville, KY, and Scott Arnold of Shinnston, She had thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Virginia truly loved spending time with her family, especially watching them at sporting events and band performances. She especially loved listening to her husband, Carder, playing jazz on his sax. She had many hobbies, crafting was her joy. She did all kinds of needlework: knitting, crocheting, quilting, embroidery and basket-making. She enjoyed bowling, line dancing and was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Tygart Lake Ladies Golf Association and traveled to play in the Mountaineer League. Virginia made Christmas at the Peter’s house very special. She was a giver and she made sure everyone had numerous gifts wrapped beautifully. Virginia was a long-time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church where she was a financial secretary for over twenty years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Ray and Gordon Hovatter, and one sister, Dorothy Campbell.The family would like to thank her caregivers, Freda, Lois, Sue, Sylvia, and Dolores. Also special thanks to all the staff of Hospice Care Corporation for their loving care.
