Virginia Ann Groome, 69, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO, after a brief illness. She was born January 1, 1944 in Rochester, New Hampshire to George Edgar and Doris Mabel (Currier) Converse. Around the age of 8, Virginia’s family moved to Florida. When she was a teenager, Virginia met Frank “Ted” Groome at a skating rink in Opa Locka, and they became sweethearts. On November 23, 1963, they were married and they were blessed with their son Michael seven years later. Virginia and Ted lived in numerous cities throughout their marriage, following Ted’s position assignments as an employee of Westinghouse, and finishing his career in Colorado with York International. In 2003, they retired and settled in Canon City. Virginia possessed a vibrant, cheerful, and outgoing personality. She always did her best to ensure those around her were happy and comfortable, often providing a wonderful meal and always a lively conversation. Her passing will leave a void in many lives and she will be sorely missed by family and friends. Mrs. Groome is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ted; son, Michael and his wife AeCha; and grandchildren, Ryan and Stacey Groome. She was preceded in death by her parents.
