Virgil Raymond Rayborn passed away quietly on July 27, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by family.  He was born near Mt. Grove Missouri on April 15, 1919. Virgil was the second of six children born to the late Henry and Agnes Rayborn. His family moved by train to a farm in Twin Falls, Idaho when Virgil was an infant. 

He attended a two room elementary school near Twin Falls, Idaho for grades 1-8.  After graduating from Twin Falls High School he attended and graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho.   His college experience was much like the rest of his life, full of joy and humor. 

After college he moved to California where he met and (6 months later) married the love of his life Marie Weyant, March 22, 1942.   

In October of 1942 Virgil joined the Coast Guard.  He served as a navigations officer on a Naval Liberty ship during World War II and fought in the battle of Leyte.  After the conflict ended, he served as the chief officer (LCDR) for a year at the Loran station on Atafu Island in the South Pacific. 

Upon returning to the states and civilian life, he started his family in earnest and graduated from The Nazarene Theological Seminary.

​Virgil is proceed in death by his wife, Marie; his parents, Henry and Agnes Rayborn; a brother, Melvin Rayborn; sisters, Opal Bess and Fairy Worcester; and grandson, Ryan Rayborn.  Virgil is survived by his two sons, Robert R. Rayborn (Chris) and Richard R. Rayborn (Eunice); brother, Eldon Rayborn; sister, Nina (Rayborn) Collins; 3 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Virgil’s dedication has influenced many people including family, neighbors and his hospice care givers. To the end of his life he was witnessing, quoting scripture and hymns and giving his testimony.  His legacy will continue for generations to come.
