Virgil P. Isaak, 90, of Greenville died Friday August 21, 2009 at Greenville Regional Hospital. He was born in Beckemeyer February 21, 1919 the son of John and Mary (Smith) Isaak; they preceded him in death. Virgil married Mary Irene (Foster) Isaak in 1956; she preceded him in death in 1989.
He later married Gladys Isaak in 1996 she also preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Isaak is survived by two sons; Flint Isaak and wife Lisa of Greenville, Flash Isaak and wife Tosha of Cantonment, FL; One Daughter: Flame “Locey” Isaak of New Baden; Four grandchildren Christin, Kelsey, Sasha, and Tyler Isaak; And one brother: Marcel Isaak of Granite City. Virgil worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. during the great depression. He started and ran the first and only taxi service in Carlyle in the 1950’s. He later became a carpenter and was a member of Local 480 in Freeburg for over 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Club. In Virgil’s later years he enjoyed walking and gardening.
