Virgil Lee Slagley, 68, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born May 15, 1950 in Tuscola, son of Truman J. Slagley and Oneida (Fasnacht) Slagley.
Virgil married Suzanne (Backs) Slagley and she preceded him in death. He married Catherine Hauser and she preceded him in death. He married Marlena (Hazlip) Slagley and they later divorced.
Virgil is survived by four children: Chris Slagley and wife Tricia of Centralia, Jamie Slagley of Centralia, Bill Slagley and wife Chrissy of Centralia, and Bobbie Koppen and husband Steve of Centralia; two step-daughters: Chrissy Evans and husband Tommy of Centralia and Shawn Carroll and husband Mike of Centralia; twelve grandchildren; Mason, Tori, Chase, Jaxon, Roby, Jacob, Stephen, Kyler, Bailey, Damon, Jordan and Madison; great-grandson: Sawyer; a brother: Paul Slagley of Bloomfield, Missouri; two sisters: Wanda Roberson of Marshall and Vivian Kelley and husband Joe of Centralia; several nieces and nephews. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, two wives: Suzanne Slagley and Catherine Slagley, a granddaughter: Braiden Slagley, a grandson: Rob Johnson, Jr., three brothers: Billy Jay Slagley, Norman Slagley, and Lowell Slagley, two sisters: Dena Slagley and Mary Ellen Slagley, his cat: Sampson and his Dog: Joker Virgil enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling.
He enjoyed cooking out, canning fruits and veggies, and sharing with everyone. He was a great guy who was loved by many. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, friends, his dog: Clyde.
