Virgil H. Kramer, 86, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
He was born December 24, 1928 in St. Maurice to Joseph and Ida (Walke) Kramer.
Virgil was a farmer most of his life. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1946. He joined the Army and served during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in St. Maurice, the Rural Couples Club, the Tree City Squares, and the American Legion Post 129. He was also a 4-H leader, former Conservation Farmer of the Year, and he received the Hoosier Homestead Award.
Virgil loved to follow the local news and he read several different newspapers every day.
Virgil was married to Evelyn Hellmich on August 27, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by two sons; Philip (Marcia) Kramer, Greensburg, Don (Carla) Kramer, Greensburg, one daughter; Sharon (Mike) Spears, Indianapolis, 6 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; William “Bud” Kramer and his wife, Viola, and one sister; Mary Louise O’Neal and her husband, Bernie.
