Violet “Vi” (Smith) Rush, age 90, of Youngstown, Ohio formerly of Salem, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Park Vista Assisted Living in Youngstown. She was born December 21, 1922 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Edward Smith. Violet had been the assistant manager at G.C. Murphy for 25 years and was a member and former deaconess of the First Christian Church in Salem. Her husband, Francis Robert Rush, whom she married July 31, 1941, preceded her in death April 13, 2006. A daughter, Carol Sue McKenzie also preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Terry (Supat) Rush of Canfield; a brother, James Smith of Pennsylvania; and five sisters, Marilyn Burns of Pennsylvania, Carolyn Adrian of North Carolina, Dorothy Grims of Pennsylvania, Kate Parsons of Pennsylvania and Virginia Ekey of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Georgina Proverbs of England and Tara Wooddell of Virginia; a grandson, Steven Rush of Canfield; and six great-granddaughters.
