Violet Margaret Mowen, 89, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Dec. 29, 1921, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Noah B. and Virgie Irene Steller Gish.
She worked at Fairchild Aircraft for 10 years and ran a daycare center in her home for many years.
She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church and a past member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, where she taught Bible school and Sunday school, and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward Mowen, in 1989.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia A. Price and her husband, Charles; daughter, Brenda K. Braswell and her husband, Jim; granddaughter, Christina L. Emery and her husband, Justin; and her grandson, Brian E. Braswell, all of Williamsport.
In addition to her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Blake, and five brothers, Albert, Irvin, Bobby, Richard and Leonard Gish.
