Violet Mae Moller passed away on January 29, 2009 at the Immanuel Lutheran Home, where she had lived since March 2005. God has taken her to a more peaceful place with no pain and suffering……only sunshine and rainbows.
Violet Mae Neil was born at home on July 1, 1922 in Poplar, Montana. She was the only child born to Richard “Dick” and Blanche Neil. She was delivered by her maternal grandmother, Hattie Whitney.
Her early childhood was spent in Poplar and when she was eight her family moved to Roseburg, Oregon to be near the Neil relatives. She spent her Junior High School years in Wolf Point, Montana and her High School years in Polson, Montana. She loved Polson on Flathead Lake. She always said it was a wonderful place to live as a teenager.
Her marriage proposal from her future husband, Max Moller, came in a letter from the South Pacific along with money to buy her engagement ring. It was two years before he came home to marry Vi. On November 22, 1945 Vi married her childhood sweetheart J. Max Moller at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell.
The first of the couple’s two daughters, Kay was born on November 27, 1947 and Gail was born on September 11, 1950, both in Kalispell.
Violet Mae worked as a secretary for the Daily Inter Lake, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Daniel Dernbach and Dr. James Kiley. Vi will be remembered by many people for her beautiful Decorative Painting which she taught for many years. She was a Charter member of the Artists and Craftsman of the Flathead Valley and also volunteered for many years at Kalispell Medical Center.
Vi had many interests. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with them. She enjoyed traveling and went to Hawaii several times, along with Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Belgium.
Vi is a member of the Central Christian Church and enjoyed her bible studies and circle. She was also a Lady Elk and supported her husband Max through the chairs to Exalted Ruler.
Vi moved into Immanuel Lutheran Home in March of 2005. She enjoyed her home there and stayed very busy with all the activities offered the residents. Of course her artistic abilities took over and she learned ceramics and she made many beautiful pieces for her family and friends.
Three years ago Vi started dialysis and on January 7th she decided to end her treatments and knew that her earthly life would be shortened. Our “Miracle Mom” lived many more days then was expected. We had so many fun talks with mom about the past and who would be waiting for her in Heaven. She was one strong lady!
Vi was preceded in death by her husband Max in 1978 and her parents Dick and Blanche Neil.
She is survived by two daughter and their husbands; Kay and Weldon Plympton and Gail and Gary Hanson; four grandkids Jeff Plympton of Whitefish, Paul and Kathy Plympton of Kalispell, Ashlee and David Robison of Columbia Falls and Kris Hanson at the UofM in Missoula; three great grandkids; Bryant Plympton of Kalispell and Madeline and Mark Robison of Columbia Falls; her sister-in-law JoAnne Ross and her cousin Joan Kennedy both of Kalispell. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.
VI’s family would like to thank the loving staff at the Immanuel Lutheran Home for their wonderful care and friendship while she was a resident there, a special thank you to Pastor Kathie of ILH for all her prayers and support and to Hospice for making her last days more comfortable.
MOM… WE WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH BUT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE OUR WONDERFUL MEMORIES AND THE GREAT LESSONS YOU HAVE TAUGHT US!
