Violet Louise Jones Campbell of Arcadia was called home on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Tidewell Hospice, Pt. Charlotte, Florida.
She was born November 6, 1938 in Miami, Florida to the late Theresa Lancaster. She was raised in Orlando, Florida by the late Mr. and Mrs. Felix Cosby and attended and graduated from Jones High School in 1956. She attended Bethune-Cookman College for two years and then moved to Jacksonville where she married. After six month there, she went to Miami to be with her mother, sisters, and brother. Violet worked at Jackson Memorial for six years.
She moved to Arcadia in September 1969, where she met Leroy Campbell Jr. They were married in 1974. She worked for DeSoto County School Board. She drove school buses for 16 years, then she worked as a teacher’s aide for 6 years.
Violet was preceded in death by Mildred Hearns, Sharon Keaton, Laura Rolack, Alberta Mathews, Ann McRae, and one brother, Willie Rolack.
Violet leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, Leroy Campbell Jr.; four sons, David Monroe (Tora), Kevin Monroe (fiance, Christina), Anthony Campbell (Yvongular), Shaw Campbell (Lawanda); one daughter, Andrella Nelson; two stepdaughter, Beverly Campbell, Regina Johnson (Charles); one stepson, Leroy Campbell III (Sylvia); one brother-in-law, Robert Steveson; two sister, Joyce Taylor (Harlod), Theresa Jones (Lem, Sr.), twenty-nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews; a very special best friend, Mrs. Ellen Motley and a special friend, Barbara McCelland.
